Hmmm...
One of the hits from Career Builder pointed me to a personnel service. "Express Personnel". According to their website they do me kind of work. I clicked 'apply now' on Career builder, and less then an hour later they called me back. I had an appointment set up for today at 2:00
Appointment seemed to go well. I filled out all the papers, watched their video. After a 20 minute question session they have me set up. That is assuming my references come back ok. If Cameron or Chris give me bad references I'm gonna hurt some one.
They only snag I had was that I had to take a pisstest. Which wouldn't be a problem, except they didn't tell me that on the phone yesterday when I talked to them, so I pissed before I left the house.
After 15 mins of standing in front of the toilet I managed to get enough to satisfy them. Hope it goes ok, they seems to be pretty nice. Of course they are a temp help firm, so you never know.

Just got back from Kelly Services. I finely broke down and at Jen's insistence I went up there for Job placement. I'm not sure if it is a good idea, but at this point it seems like the only idea.
I was only in the place for 15 mins. They don't do construction, or landscaping type of work. They specialize in light industrial. Which rules out most if not all of my work experience.
I have an appointment to go in on Wednesday at 9:00am to do their registration, which can take anywhere from half an hour to an hour and a half. Once this is done they will 'better know what I can do', and there for be better for placing me.
Though he told me they had a part sorting job I could (and probably will) take in Brighton. If I don't have the experience to do the type of work they handel, guess I'll have to take the jobs they have until I get the experience.
Or at least until I find a place that will give me a real job.
Hope it all goes well, I need two forms of ID. Hope I can find my birth Cirt again. I haven't had a social security card sense I was 16. My Dad lost it, and I never filed for a new one. Oddly enough, I've never needed it for anything.

I'm all for technology. Anybody that walked into this house could see that. We own two laptops, two desktops, two PS2s, two VCRS, two stereos, a DVD player, Game Cube, Super Nintendo, Sega, Nomad, Ipod, Palm pilot, and about 500 DVDs. And no that's not an exaggeration, we really own about 500 DVDs, probably more. And our Cell phones, we do not even have a 'land line'.
We have broadband internet with a wireless connection. We have cable with 150 channels. Our computers can play music through the stereo wirelessly. We have a printer in the living room on the network so we can print to it from anywhere. Lets not get started on the other stuff too.
At what point do you draw the line? I'm all for sitting in front of a TV most of the day. Or at least having the TV or Radio on for noise. I've never been a huge TV watcher my self. It's a kick back from child hood. We only had one TV in the house. It was an old 25" floor model my Dad got on the side of the road. It worked nicely but it was old even when he got it. With the big antenna on the top of the house we could get 6 channels. When we made it home from school we where allowed to watch it for about 30 mins. Enough time for 1 cartoon.
Now, I don't want you to think that my parents restricted TV time so we would do our home work or something like that. They didn't. We where allowed 1/2 and hour because we got home at around 2:30 and at 3:00 Mom's soaps came on, and they didn't go off until Dad got home from work. At which point the TV was surrendered to him. By the time my parents split up I was already a teenager and ingrained to not watch it.
The problem is thus. We have cable, 150 channels. Mike, my 6 year old son is too obsessed with it. TV, Video Games, the Computer. It is the center of his life. He wakes me up in the morning, and comes out here to bounce on the couch until I get the TV on. If I don't turn it on with in a minute or two of getting up he starts asking, non stop if he can watch it. Ok, a little obsessive, but that's not too bad. If you turn the TV off and tell him to go find something to play with he'll just sit on the couch and talk to you the whole time the TV is off. Which is cool for the most part. Though it's a waste of his toys.
My biggest problem is what happened today, which is why he is banned from TV for the rest of the day. It around 12:00 I asked him if he was hungry for lunch. He did not eat breakfast because he wasn't hungry. He said, and I quote.
"No, I'm not hungry, I think I'll just sit here and finish watching this."
Fine, what ever, there are days when I'm just not hungry, I've gone a day or two with out eating because I wasn't hungry. If he didn't want lunch I wasn't going to argue, I'd just make him eat dinner. As soon as Jimmy Neutron went to commercial Mike got up and started whining that he was starving because I didn't give him breakfast. I asked him how he could be starving, he wasn't hungry two mins ago. He responded with:
"I am now, the TV show is over, so I have time to eat."
So what do you do? Ban them from TV? Force them to eat? I think perhaps Jen and I need to institute a TV time limit. Maybe 2 hours a day or something. It's just something that has me concerned. Watching TV, or playing video games to the exclusion of all else is unhealthy.
Perhaps we are too technology driven. Maybe we need to 'trim' down some?
Or do we just let him stare at it all day, it is after all summer vacation. Once he starts school it'll be something we can work on?
Anyway, this was a rant or something, I don't know, just felt like posting it. Don't know why.

Jen had yet another appointment with the neurologist today. She had two tests they wanted to run. She woke up early feeling crappy. Sick to her stomach and her chest hurting. Now, you have to understand she wakes up feeling like this most every day. And it passes. She got out of bed, Liz came over to collect Mike so I could drive Jen to the appointment. We went out into the heat, sweated our asses off in the van all the way to Novi. By now Jen's really ill, motion sick on top of it all. We get to the office and the doctor says he won't touch her. She needs to go to the ER.
What the fuck?
The doctor won't touch her because she sick? Why the hell would she be at the doctors office if she wasn't sick? What a fucking joke. She has had the same thing going of for the last two months. She was directed to a neurologist by the ER and her family doctor. But he says we have to go to the ER. She has been to one at least 6 times for this, I've taken her my self. They do the same thing every time. Sedate her, giver her something for the nausea and send her home. If she's lucky they'll x-ray her. If she's really lucky we'll only waste an hour there, as opposed to the five hours it normally takes McPherson.
So we wasted the trip to novi. A stupid fucking moron doctor won't see her when she's sick. She can't get better with out seeing the doctor. But he won't come near her when she not good. She has a good day about once a week, sometimes twice. But it's random and she can't just walk in to get the tests done. Seems like someone that spent that much time in school to learn how to be a doctor would have learned to use his fucking brain for something other then blocking the wind from blowing through is ears.
On the up side, she appears to be feeling better now that we are home and in the AC. We had dinner about half an hour ago. Potato soup. We started it in the slow cooker last night before we went to Jes and Liz's. If I did my math right that means when we ate it at 4:00 it had been cooking for 25 hours. It was yummy. Mike even ate a whole bowel, along with 1/2 a loaf of artisan bread for VGs.

Well, it's been a little over a week now. We officially moved in last Saturday. In fact It's been a week and a day sense we spent or first night here. Things are coming a long nicely I think. Someone bought the escort yesterday. Didn't get as much as I wanted for it, but we still got some money.
We went out and bought some stuff for the house. First we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond. There we bought a filter for our sink, one of those brita things that screw on. It pulls most of the stuff out of the water. Jen can drink the tap water now, which makes it worth the price we paid for it. It'll hopefully save us money in the long run, less bottled water to buy. We also picked up more silverware, and a counter top organizer for our cooking utensils. It came complete with a set so now we can get rid of the stuff in the drawers. That will free up at least two drawers of space. We also got new salt and pepper shakers, they are Tiki Heads!
After BB&B we headed over to Meijers for some other stuff. We picked up a small pitcher we can fill with water and refrigerate. We also got new seat cushions for the kitchen chairs, and some place mats. Most importantly, at least for me, we got dry wall anchors so I can hang the shelves. This allowed us to put away all our DVDS, clearing more floor space. We also got a huge hook to hang Jen's shell chime with. And a frame for Jens' Mash picture.
The living room is still cluttered, though the couch is cleaned off. We've done 3 loads of laundry. It's folded and put away. Went to the store at about 2:00 and got the stuff for potato soup. Mmm.... soupy. Jen is in the process of making the soup, and a cake. So the house smells like potatoes and cinnamon. It's enough to make me drool. Can't wait for the cake to be done.

Seems like the unpacking takes for ever. Of course it doesn't help that I only do a few boxes each day. Managed to get some of the bedroom done, I think by tomorrow I might get it all done. The bathroom is unpacked for the most part, at least all the boxes in the house for the bathroom are done. Living room is still a shambles. Seems like no mater what I do it's still filled with boxes. Had it emptied Monday, but it filled back up.
Ah well. At least the kitchen is done. At least until I find more boxes in the garage for the kitchen. We got rid of most our dishes. We have one set of plates and bowls, as opposed to the 4 sets we used to have, along with 1 set of cups and silver wear. The advantage is that it takes up a lot less space and there are less to wash. The downs side is, there are less to use, so they have to be washed daily. With any luck we can have to place unpacked, and the garage parkable by the end of August. At least I'm hoping for sooner then that.
Jen went to another Dr. Appointment today. They are still running tests. While she was gone we broke out Mike's bike and tried to ride it to the park. He managed to get about half way there before he had a bad crash and skinned his knee. He was crying bad and limping so I told him we where just going to head home. Which started a fit, he wanted to go to the park. Told him he could ride his bike back home, and then we would walk to the park if he was good. We made it home with the bike about the same time Jen pulled in. Mike ended up throwing a fit in the drive way and we had to bring him in and put him down for a nap. He seems to be doing a lot better now that he has slept some.
Now if only I could get a nap.

As of 11:30 last night we have officially gotten all of our stuff out of the old house. There is nothing of ours left there. At least nothing we want. The pile of trash up at the road is astounding. We're hoping Mr. Rubbish will take it all. Well, I doubt they'll take the desk that is sitting out there, but I'm willing to bet the desk is gone by now anyway.
Moving sucked, it always sucks. Even though we spent two weeks packing in preparation for the big move we still had to pack while we where moving. We had the house almost empty by Saturday night. Two loads with a 16ft box truck, the Van and the Focus. Sunday was just as bad. We did 3 or 4 loads with the Pickup and Focus while Jen hung out at home and started unpacking. Sunday we found out that the washer Cam bought, that we where just going to leave in our house didn't work, so we had to swap it out for ours. One more thing to slow us down. Saturday and Sunday where long days, up at 8am and not back down until 2am.
Yesterday we had to go back for the rest of the stuff, two more loads with the pickup and focus. It's not that it was a lot of stuff, it's just that everything we had left was bulky. It was stuff that should have gone into the box truck. So we fill up the focus and pick up. My brother in law Chris would have been proud if he saw the last pickup load. He lives by the motto "With enough straps anything is safe." We has stuff stacked above the cab. It was all held together with 5 ratchet straps. I never would have taken it on the e-way but from Pickney to Brighton via back roads it was good.
All in all this move was by far the easiest we have done. It only took 3 days of moving, which is the normal for us. But this time it was 1 day of hard moving and two days of sorting and packing, as opposed to just 3 days of hard, rushed moving.
We're in the new place, the cable is hooked up. We have internet after a bunch of trouble with Comcast. It finely came down to me driving up to the office to get our shit sorted out. We still don't have cable in the bedroom, but we have it in the living room.
All the hard stuff is done, now comes the time consuming part. Unpacking! I think we have plenty of room for stuff once we get it sorted out. It's the sorting that will take time. You can't even walk through our bedroom. It needs serious unpacking. Hoping we can get to that today. Mike's room and our room are the only two rooms in the house with nothing in the garage. Every other room has at least 2 boxes out there.
More later I assume.

This is my first blog from the new house, on pirated internet. I'm currently waiting on Cam to come get me so we can go finish up the other place. We have a few more things to pack up and move over. About a load for the focus and the pickup truck. I'm hoping he gets here soon so we can go. Jen's going to stay here for a bit and get more rest. Once we get some more done on the house she'll head over so we can do the fish tanks. That's going to be the biggest thing for today. Fish tanks...
We also need to swap out the washer and dryer in the house for the ones at Cam's.
I don't feel so good, woke up with a sick stomach. Hopping food will cure it.
Anyway, off to do some unpacking until Cam shows.

Tomorrow is the big day. We pick up the keys at 2:00. Cam and I are supposed to go pick up the truck at 9:00. Hopefully we can get a lot of packing done before then. Jen had a doctor appointment today at 4:00. We left the house about 2:00 and headed over to drop Mike off with Liz. While we where there we picked up the package from Comcast. They dropped off a receiver and cable modem so we can have cable when we move in. Problem is, they where supposed to drop off two, we only have one. So that means only the living room will have cable. And they didn't leave the remote with the receiver so we can't even watch it.
After the trip to the Dr. and a combined total of two and a half hours of hold time we managed to get comcast to agree to drop off the remote tonight. We made it home about 8:30. Got Mike in bed and started packing again. I think I've packed another 10 boxes or so. Cam and I also loaded up the van so when we go at 2:00 we have a load we can drop off. Every little bit helps. With any luck we can have the house emptied of everything except the fish tanks tomorrow night. Most everything is packed that needs to be. I'm sure there will be things left to pack once we start moving things out. But in the mean time I think we are ready.
I'm wore out, I need a vacation. It's one in the morning and it'll be an early start for us tomorrow. Maybe if I'm up early enough I can do some more packing. But as it stands I'm too tired. Gonna try to hang out with Jen for an hour or so, then sleep. Gonna be a long weekend. My next blog will hopefully be from the new place. Assuming the internet works there. Or we're close enough to steal Jes and Liz's. Woo free internet.

It's crunch time, while we don't have a lot of packing left to do, we do still have some. I'll post something about the packing later. This is about the break Mike and I took..
Some time last summer Mike really wanted the training wheels off his bike. Cam and I argued with him about it, that he wasn't ready to take them off. After all he still fell off with the training wheels. In the end we removed them. Sense then he's been afraid to even try to ride it. Until last week.
Last week he started trying again. With little luck, I think we're being a lot nicer to him then my Dad was to me. When I learned to ride he set me on a bike told me to pedal and pushed me down a hill. I figured it out quick, then hit a tree.
Anyway, Mike's been trying most every day for the last week or so. Monday he managed to ride a few feet, with my running behind holding my hand to the side so he wouldn't fall.
Today on the other hand, while I was working in the garage cleaning up some stuff he got the bike out and started practicing: Once he got over the fear of falling off he he's doing a lot better. Though I think we need to get him knee pads and a helmet.

3 Days Left: We have three days left until the move. That's right Saturday is the big day. We've almost gotten all of Cameron's stuff out of the house. We ran a load over there yesterday and today. Managed to make it to the dump to empty the GMC today. Which was cool because now we have it to hall stuff around. Not really a lot we can do until Friday now. Everything we have left to pack needs to be left out. Jen wants to run the desks over to her parents, and maybe put the rocking chairs into the shed behind their house. We need to find something to do with them, I don't think we have room at the new place. Tomorrow and Friday are going to be busy, it's the last of the packing. And maybe some moving.
Called DTE and Consumers, they are all set to switch over service. Seems to be going right, now if I could get a hold of my mom...
Jen made us Steak and Pasta for dinner. It was yummy. It's 5 hours later and I'm still too full to eat a fla-vor-ice. Mmmm Steak....

5 Days Left: Monday, Lets see... Don't think I really did anything Monday. I've reached the point where I'm starting to pack the stuff that we use. So I have to be picky about it. It's hard to get stuff packed when I'm not sure what if anything we'll need. There have already been a few things that I packed and Jen or Mike wanted afterward.
4 Days Left: Tuesday July 4th. It's the fourth of July. Mmmhmmm. I packed up some more stuff in the garage. Sorted out extension cords, jumper cable. Picked up all my stray tools and put them back in my tool box. The grey shelf we are taking with us is now completely filled. I think that we've managed to get everything we own in the garage ready. Might be wrong. It'll be interesting to put all our stuff in the new garage and see how it'll all fit. The garage is not very wide. Looks just wide enough for the van to fit and still open the doors. On the other hand, it's really long. So we can stack stuff in front of the van. I think the table and fridge we have will work fine in there. And we can stack stuff on/under the table. I also packed up some of the decorations in the bedroom. It's Wednesday now, so tomorrow I pack for real Everything I can. Need to empty the whole house out.

7 Days Left: Saturday, Got a little bit of packing done on Saturday. Not much but a few boxes. Mostly I just hung out with Mike and watched T.V. Once he went to the grandparents house Jen and I headed into Brighton to pay for the Washer and Dryer Cam is buying. We ended up and Jess and Liz's place. We where there for a few hours. Liz made spaghetti, it was yummy. Somewhere during the time there I developed a headache. It didn't go away.
6 Days Left: Sunday, Just finished packing up some stuff on the entertainment center. Pulled down the stereo and printer. Cleaned up all the stray wires. Not sure if there will be anything else done tonight. My headache still hasn't gone away. It's getting rather annoying. 3rd day with my license, and still haven't gotten behind the wheel of a car.
