I'd rather have a bottle in front of me...

Then a frontal lobotomy.

Some time in the last two weeks the re-opened the lodge freeway between Southfield and 696.

Now, I realize this doesn't mean anything to most of you, and the rest of you don't care. But the fact of the matter is, with the lodge open it shaves 15 mins from my commute time one way. At least in theory.

This morning it took me 30 mins to get to work, as apposed to the 45 it takes me when I am forced to drive down 275. Anybody that knows anything about 275 knows it never moves fast, no matter what time you drive it.

Of course, the trip home wasn't so fortunate. It took me 15 mins to make it to Novi. I was able to do speed limit all the way there. (Yea, I do speed limit. Having your license suspended a few times will do that to you.) Of course, it took me 35 mins to get from 1 side of Novi to the other. To give you a hint, according to Google it is 2.5 mi – about 5 mins.

I ever mention I love driving in Michigan?

Blargh

Well, at least my jaw isn't hurting right this second.

Hopefully it'll last the day like this.

Saturday, July 21, 2007

I appear to be clenching my teeth a lot more then normal the last few days, or at least that may be the cause of what's wrong with me. But now that my jaw is hurting I'm noticing the clenching a lot more, i have to keep stopping my self from doing it.

My day?

Today was one of those days...

I went to work today, because Tim had 'work' that needed to be done. So I packed up and headed to Detroit to load up the tractor and trailer.

We had to do some work on Telegraph Rd. and then some in Ann Arbor.

Problem 1: The trailer had a flat, not a big deal I just pumped it back up and we where ready to roll.

Problem 2: After loading the tractor and heading down the road we realized that the 350 had worse problems then before, or more to the point the problem just got worse. It wouldn't go over 35 mph. So I limped it down the road to Telegraph and dropped to tractor. So much for Ann Arbor.

Problem 3: While making the turn onto Telegraph off of Ford Rd. I looked up in time to notice a cop with his lights on, pulling me over. Yippy! Apparently the lights on the trailer where out. He was really nice, asked for the usual stuff. I handed him my license and registration while I looked for the insurance. He told me not to worry about it as long as my license was good. He and I sat on the side of the road for almost 20 mins trying to get them to work. After which he gave me a fix it ticket for the lights, and followed me to the job site so I could drop the tractor and trailer.

Problem 4: We got the parts to fix the truck. Plugs and wires, but Tim had packed up all his tools and shipped them out. He's moving, so I was unable to fix the truck. And as far as I know the trailer is still on Telegraph Rd.

Lockjaw..

Apparently I have lock jaw, which is what's causing me my to hurt when I chew.

Didn't really have anything to say other then that.

Ouch...

I have had a pain in my jaw for the last few days. For some reason the right side of my mouth hurts any time I close my jaw all the way. I doesn't feel like a tooth ache. I can put something between my teeth and bite down as hard as I want and it doesn't hurt.

It felt okay this morning, but it's getting painful again...

Nextel Sucks...

So, I have a Nextel phone from work. Who has merged with Sprint for their wireless services. Which one would assume is a positive thing. Jen also has a Sprint phone, which gives us the advantage of being able to talk to one another for free...

I recently acquired an I860, which is an older phone, but a much more advanced model phone then the I550 I used to have. With the addition of the phone, I called Nextel and had them turn on unlimited text messaging, so I could annoy my wife while she was working.

The phone call went something like this.
Nextel: Could I get your name please?
Me: Sure, it's Tim Hagerty
Nextel: We're not showing an account for Tim Hagerty.
Me: That's because the name on the account is "Michigan Environmental Restoration"
Nextel: Ok, I have it now, can you verify your password for me please?
Me: Sure, it's AmyLynn. Which reminds me, I need to change that to something else.
Nextel: I can do that, what would you like the new one to be?
Me: You can change it to "*****"
Nextel: Ok, that's done, what else can I help you with?
Me: I'd like you to turn unlimited text messaging on for this phone line.
Nextel: The line your currently calling on?
Me: Yes, that's correct.
Nextel: Is it able to send text messages already?
Me: No, it gives me a service error.
Nextel: Ok, give me one moment I have to assign it a new IP address.
Me: Sure...
Nextel: Ok sir, it's in our system. It's going to take any where from 5 minuites to 72 hours to clear.
Me: Did you just say 72 hours?
Nextel: Yes sir, it can take up to 72 hours.
Me: Wow, that a huge gap in time. Why so long?
Nextel: Well, once I put it in the system it has to wait for the computer work load to clear. It could take a while.
Me: Seems like 3 days is a long time for a computer system to process information. Especially concidering it's not changing much.
Nextel: It least it's only text messaging, some of thing we do can take up to 3 weeks to clear the system.
Me: Ok, so it could take up to 3 days to take effect is there anything I need to do?
Nextel: Yea, we need you to power cycle (Turn it off and back on.) your phone ever few hours to get the update.
Me: So, I need to turn my phone off and back on ever 2-3 hours for the next 72 hours for this to take effect.
Nextel: Yep, or at least until it starts working.
Me: Thanks.
Nextel: Your welcome sir, is there anything else I can help you with today?
Me: No, that just about did it for me. I'll talk to you again in 3 days when it's not working right.
Nextel: Alright sir, have a nice night.

More then meets the eye...

Jen and I just got back from watching Transformer. We went to preview it for Mike to see if it's something he could watch.

I have to say that it was a damn good movie, I had heard some bad reviews about it. Normally bad reviews make me want to see a movie more. If the critics thinks it stinks I'll probably love it. Though I wouldn't mark it up as the greatest action move of all times, I'd still say it's a good movie. The effects where neat, and the story good. Although I was personally disappointed with Megatron, I think he could have been better. But then I always preferred him as a gun.

Not that interesting...

I just returned home from a meeting in Lansing with the head of Future Fence and the MDOT inspector about the silt fence we installed up there. Or rather MDOT was supposed to be there but never showed, not a surprise concidering that it's a holiday week.

According to what I was told by Tim, who was told by Future Fence, they where shut down because we installed the silt fencing wrong. And until we made it out there to fix it the could not work, which was costing them between 6 and 10 grand a day. Tim was afraid we would get the back charge. That would effectively bankrupt us.

Once I got out there and talked to them I found out that we didn't still it wrong, or rather we did install it wrong, it didn't get backfilled right. But that wasn't why they where shut down. They got shut down because the silt fence was in the wrong spot. Though I put it in the spot I was told to put it by MDOT, it was not where it needed to go. So there is another 3 to 4 thousand feet we need in.

The good parts, it's not our fault, so no back charge. They are shut down, but at their own fault, so while we have to rush to get it done, we won't get in trouble for it. The other good part, the extra 3k feet we put in we will get payed for. So our 6k foot job just became 14k feet.

With any luck we will still turn a good profit on it. Though I was worried about it being stalled wrong, as it would have been my fault.
