Another Weekend come and gone....

Well, it's Sunday night again.

The weekend passed a lot quicker then I thought it would. Not that weekends really matter, but I figured it was gonna be longer then this one was. We didn't really do much on Saturday. After taking Mike out to Jen's folks we went to the cemetery to finish the work on the grave. Then we went out and rented a few movies. Three to be exact two of which we watched last night, Curse of the Golden Flower and Deja Vu.

Curse of the Golden Flower:
As far as movies of this type go it was ok. Though it seems to drag on more then it's two hours. The setting and props where amazing, as was the acting of Chow Yun-Fat. The rest of the movie left something to be desired. While I think the plot line was interesting, it wasn't told very well. The fight scenes where long, but lacking the impressive nature of other such scenes. Really, as far as rentals go it was ok, but I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

Deja Vu:
There are not very many actors that will prompt me into seeing a movie solely on them being in it. Denzel Washington is in the top 3 of that list. It is very seldom I see a movie with him in it that disappointed me. This move wasn't an exception, though I think it had some issues with it. Though I won't discuss them here. All in all I think it was a good watch.

hagerty@scnc.fvl.k12.mi.us

So, I get e-mail spam. Everybody does it's a fact of life. Maybe you have a really good spam filter and don't notice it, but the spam is there.

Every now and then I click on a spam message, more to see where it's really coming from then anything else. I clicked on one in my excite mailbox for a free laptop and scrolled around until I found the information about where it was coming from. At the bottom of the page is the line:

" You received this message because you are subscribed to a Lycos Newsletter. "

Ok, so I don't remember ever signing up for anything owned by Lycos.

Time to check it out, I clicked on the link and used my typical user name and password. After perusing the membership information i find that my e-mail address is set to: hagerty@scnc.fvl.k12.mi.us

For those of you that don't know, that was my high school e-mail address. Evidently I made an account with Lycos 10 years ago, and forgot all about it. Or, more to the point, they own Angelfire, which is probably where my account came from.

Monday again.

Saturday was our Anniversary, 2 years to the day that we got married. As apposed to the day of our wedding. Most people don't realize that those two dates aren't the same. Saturday started out as a normal Saturday, I got up with Mike around 8:00am. After a 10 minute discussion about breakfast we settled with him eating some pumpkin bread. After that he read some scary stories to him self while I plunked around the house aimlessly. He had a go-see-it for the scouts at 10:00 which we needed to prepare for. So at around 9:00 he got his uniform on, we did up his hair, said bye to Mom and headed out the door.

The go-see-it was at the Press & Argus building in Howell, next to the outlet mall. The e-mail from the scout leader said there was limited space, so only 1 parent was allowed on the tour. Also they wanted everybody there before 10 so they could get it all started right. So naturally we where the only people there on time. No one else showed up until a quarter after ten. And of course they all brought not only their scout, but all the other kids they could find too.

The tour was pretty neat, the plant was shut down. They only had 3 people there working. One of them happened to be Cameron's sister Velvet. We where only three minutes into the tour when I remember how well behaved Mike was in public. For a group of 'boy scouts' the rest of the kids where a bunch of hellions.

After the tour we headed home where I hooked up the play station to let Mike play some X-men while I made lunch. Shortly after I finished eating I got a call from my parents, a pipe had broke in the basement and my Dad needed help fixing it. So I cruised out there for an hour or two then met Jen at her parents house. That when our Anniversary really started.

After leaving their house we went home so I could change my shirt, and then we headed up town. We went shopping at a few stores looking for some pant that fit Jen comfortably. After that we went out to eat at Bennigans in Howell. We stopped by one of the larger nurseries in Howell to look for ground covers for Jen's grandpa's grave site. We picked up some ivy that looks like it will grown nicely in the shady area around his grave. We where planning on putting it in the ground today, but we didn't manage to make it.

At 9:00pm we went and saw Grindhouse. I liked it, though I think the first of the two movies was the best of them. After grind house we came home and watched another movie. It was a french thing we had laying around. By the time we where done with the 'movie' it was 4:00am and we where ready to sleep. Or at least I was ready to pass out.

Today we went out to my folks for a BBQ, which turned out okay. Cam and I took a trip out to the Graveyard to pick up the bench there. I borrowed a couple of sanders from my day. Hoping we can get the bench sanded down and take it back out there. It's still in really good condition concidering that it's been out in the weather for 4 or 5 years now.

Maybe tomorrow we can make it out to plant the ivy and stuff.

Legal Again?!?

After almost 6 months of a suspended license, yes it's been that long, I've finally got it back. With the Tax returns and the first check from Tim we managed to pay the $500.00 I owed the state, then my parents gave me the $125.00 to get it reinstated. So as of 1:00pm today I am once again licensed.

As if that wasn't productive enough for one day, we went to AnnArbor to pick up Jen's glasses. Which I think look good on her, but she hates. We also went to Meijers and took back my jeans that didn't fit, bought a new belt for the vacuum and a light bulb for the drivers side break light. I'm about to pack up and head over to get the oil changed, or get the stuff to do it. Valvoline is running a special which will probably make it cheaper to get it done then do it my self. Especially sense they check all the other fluids as well.

New Pants...

With our tax returns coming in, and my pay check Jen had budgeted in some money for me to buy pants. Up till this point I've only owned two pairs. I used to have 5 or 6 pairs of work pants, and 2 or 3 pairs of non-work pants. I'm so hard on pants at work they only last about a season, two if I'm lucky. Once a pair of pants has been worn to work once it can no longer be worn outside of work. They just get that nasty.

So we went to Meijers to pick up 2 pairs. Gonna turn my 1 pair of 'good pants' into work pants. That would give me two of each. I picked up size 40x32. I've been wearing a 32 inch inseam most my adult life. When I was 17 the just reached my heel, which is where I like my pants. I tried on both of these pairs of pants, and both of them reach down past my toes.

I don't know if I'm getting shorter, or if pants are getting longer. We are going to take them back tomorrow and get shorter pants. Something that perhaps fits a bit better.

I think for my birthday I'd like some pants. Some for both work and home. For work I need something with a double knee. Like the Workhorse Jeans or Carpenter Jeans by Dickie. Not saying that what I want needs to be made by Dickie, just that they are the type of pants I need for work and play. I'm rough on my clothes.

Day well spent?

Well, started off they day with little to no sleep. Jen and I decided to watch Brothers and Sisters before bed last night, at around 11:00. Unfortunately 1 episode of Brothers and Sisters lead to 3 episodes of Jericho, which turned into 3 episodes of CSI. So our 11:00 bed time turned into a 6:30 bed time.

Needless to say, when 7:00 rolled around and we had to get up for Mike to go to school we where a bit tired. After he was on the bus we laid back down for a bit. At 11:00 I had to get up and get ready for work.

Work was ok, got everything taken care of that we needed to. Got the 'jump start kit' installed on the F350. Which for those of you that don't know, it's basically a plug you install on the front of the truck, you hook it to the battery so that you can plug in special cables to jump start the truck. Or other things, it's not really something that is a necessity, but it helps.

We also drove out to M-59 to pick up Tim's other trailer. I guess he had bought it last year and had some problems with it. He took it to a friend of a friend to get it fixed, and it's sat for a year. The tires where blown out of it, so we took the tires off the trailer at the house and put them on the one we where picking up. He is going to take it to the trailer shop he found to get it fixed. All in all I got payed to ride around in the truck. Tim is aware that I have a suspended license until Friday, so I'm didn't drive any where.

Oh, and I got payed. That's nice too, not a huge check but better then nothing. He's put me up to $14.75, with the promise of $15.00 one we start working full time.

It's the morning..

Jen's bread is out on the table, we've tried a piece of it and it was good. The problem I have with it is that it's "filled" with something I don't really care for, so while the little bit of filling I had tasted like it should have I can't tell you if it was good or not.

Watched the Boondock Saints last night, it's only the second time I've ever seen it. I was in the mood for some action movie, and that really hit the spot I think. I had forgotten how funny it was though, I mean they are vigilantly killers taking out all the 'evil' men in Boston, but they are at least smart asses about it. All in all a good movie, if you go in for that type of thing. And me personally, I like the idea of god send people on a killing spree to purge the world of 'wicked' men.

Tomorrow is the day, I have to be at Tim's by noon to get registered for work. He has a job for us at a prison on Beck Road and Five Mile. Didn't even know there was a prison there, but hey what ever works I guess. So why do I have to get registered? Well, it's simple really. For one they need to 'finger print' me and they need to make sure that:

1. I am who I say I am.
2. I am not a felon.
3. I do not have a warrant out for my arrest.
4. I do no have any family in said prison.

I am not a felon, and I've been going by the same name my whole life. So the question is, do I have a warrant out for my arrest and do I have family in that prison?

As for the warrant, I don't think so, but then I've had a suspended license for a while now and owe the state money. It's possible they put a bench warrant out on me. Though I think they would have notified me if that was to happen.

And the family...

My family is huge, and it's everywhere. It is entirely possible that I have family locked away in there. But if I've never met them do they really count?

6 Days left.

Rye Bread?!

Just tried a piece of the Rye Bread that Jen baked this evening. It was yummy.

That's all I really had to say.

I sold my soul..

If you look on the right side of my blog you'll notice that there is now a Google search bar there. If you scroll down a bit further you'll see the Firefox logo, and some adds at the very bottom of the page. Thats right, I sold my soul to Google for a small share of the profit.

In other news, it's snowing again. Yesterday we where walking around with out coats on and today it's snowing. Gotta love Michigan weather.

I've started playing Evil Dead: A fist full of Boomstick again. I had borrowed it from Jen's dad almost a year ago and played about half way through it when I got called back to work and stopped. At some point in the last year I deleted that save game and had to start over. I had forgotten how big a pain in the ass the game can be at times. Deadites swarm you from everywhere and it's almost impossible to kill them once you have more then two or three on you. Add to that the fact that you need to have tokens to save so you have to be a little conservative of when and where you save. All in all it's a fun game, if you don't mind dieing a lot, or taking your time. And it's has Bruce Campbell being a smart ass through the whole thing.

And of course, I'm 'cheating' as Jen calls it. I've downloaded a walk through so I can find everything and make it through.

On another note, the power cord for my IBook is falling apart again. The end seems to be splitting on it. As of yet it is holding, but I need to find some way to secure it before it falls apart completely. I'm thinking super glue, as Jen and I have established that hot glue and tape do not work. The cord heats up too much for that. Kinda of wish I had one of those shiny new MacBook pro with the magnetic power supply. But then, Jen has one and it fell apart on her too...

I'm in your house, playin' with your catz.

Jen and I broke down and bought a laser pointer for Patches. It was only 5 bucks in the check out line at Meijer, and he seemed to really like the one we borrowed from her parents.

It's a crappy piece of junk, sometimes it works great and other times not at all. You usually have to push the button a few times to get it to turn on at all. From what the directions said you click the button once to turn it on, and a second time to turn it off. That's not how it works though, what you really have to do is push and hold the button the whole time. Which makes playing with the cat rather tiring for you thumbs or fingers.

But, all in all it was worth the 5 bucks we payed for it. And Patches loves it, or at least he like to play with it. Well, at least for five or ten mins before he gets bored with it. He will chase it around the living room, stumbling and flipping over everything is sight. Our slightly retarded cat is fun to watch. It's even more fun to watch him try to climb a wall to get at it.

At least it give us something to play with, and lets him get some exercise. He's getting old and needs something to keep him active, especially with the way he freaks out about everything.

The company that makes the pet laser MiracleBeam also sells other laser and led products, including a really neat green laser pointer. It is 20 times brighter then the average red laser, and you can see the beam mid air. I know that I'm kind of a geek for it, but I want one.

Oh, and the fish like it too.

11 Days left...

It's almost midnight here in O'doherty land. Jen and Cameron are in the kitchen making a swiss roll for Jen's mom. They are having a hell of a time with it, from what I can tell all of the recipes Jen has found are in weight rather then cups. So, lacking a scale, they needed to look up conversion charts on the net. Exactly how many cups of sugar do you have 5 ounces?

Jen and I picked up a copy of the prestige with some gift cards Craig sent her, we are planning on watching it as soon as she is done baking. Mike and Grandpa are gonna go see TMNT tommorow, which is cool. I kind of want to see it my self as I was always a fan on the Ninja Turtles. Maybe I can make Jen take me to see it soon.

As of now I am waiting on work, if and when it stop snowing I should be back to work. This weather is shitty for this time of year.

"Talk to your friends from any computer with a Web browser and access to the Internet. You can chat at work. You can chat at school. Productivity is overrated."

Easter

Went over to Jen's folks for easter and watched the kids hunt eggs then had some yummy food.

I can still taste the last scotch egg I ate.

It took 28 years...

I think I've finally perfected my burgers. At least on a stove, still working on the BBQ. I'm told they are pretty damn good from the grill, but they lack something I just can't put my finger on.

At least it grilling season again so I can go back to perfecting them.

Harry Potter...

Jen has been reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone to Mike every night before bed. It's interesting to sit back and listen to her read the story. I've read the whole series twice now, and it always seems like it's better when someone else is reading it.

I can't wait until they make it to Half Blood Prince.

My mistake...

Today would make 16 days, not yesterday. That is of course not counting today it's self.

...

Trying to type this out, but for some reason the internet is being choppy for me. Working fine for Jen though.

Not really a lot to tell about the week. It was a lot shorter then I thought it would be. I really want work the start going full bore so we have money again.
