Santa Clause is Coming to Town

Jen and I watched Santa Clause is Coming to Town last night, and we realized that now a days he would have been lynched before he ever got to be famous.


This strange young man, in his late teens or early twenties come strolling into a town he's never been to before. A stranger to all the people there he sets up shop right in the center of town. The children are given free toys if they just 'sit on his lap and give him a kiss'. Then they are instructed not to tell the authorities about it. Later he tells them that they should leave their doors and window unlocked so he can sneak into their houses while people are asleep.

Back in 1970 when this show came out that was acceptable. He probably could have gotten away with it. But now, with paranoid parents and uptight cops he would have gotten tossed into jail before his first toy left the sac.
