Not that interesting...
I just returned home from a meeting in Lansing with the head of Future Fence and the MDOT inspector about the silt fence we installed up there. Or rather MDOT was supposed to be there but never showed, not a surprise concidering that it's a holiday week.
According to what I was told by Tim, who was told by Future Fence, they where shut down because we installed the silt fencing wrong. And until we made it out there to fix it the could not work, which was costing them between 6 and 10 grand a day. Tim was afraid we would get the back charge. That would effectively bankrupt us.
Once I got out there and talked to them I found out that we didn't still it wrong, or rather we did install it wrong, it didn't get backfilled right. But that wasn't why they where shut down. They got shut down because the silt fence was in the wrong spot. Though I put it in the spot I was told to put it by MDOT, it was not where it needed to go. So there is another 3 to 4 thousand feet we need in.
The good parts, it's not our fault, so no back charge. They are shut down, but at their own fault, so while we have to rush to get it done, we won't get in trouble for it. The other good part, the extra 3k feet we put in we will get payed for. So our 6k foot job just became 14k feet.
With any luck we will still turn a good profit on it. Though I was worried about it being stalled wrong, as it would have been my fault.
