Friday the 13th

Jen woke me up at 6:05 this morning to point out the fact that it was hailing. Yes, hailing. That started my stranger then normal day.

Jen wanted to do some baking, so at 6:30ish I headed over to VGs to get some supplies. After braving the parking lot and wandering around for a bit I got all the stuff and headed up to the register, where I was promptly informed that the credit card machine was down. No cash, no sale. So, being the good customer I am I put all my stuff away and headed home. While I was in the store I over heard someone saying that tornado touched down in Brighton by the high school.

After coming home we tuned into the news to find out (Via a webpage) that school was canceled for the day due to the power outage. With out the need to get Mike up for the bus I decided to head to Meijer to do my shopping. After calling first.

The first person I talked to was kinda snotty. I called and asked if they where open and her response was. "Yes sir, we are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." To which I was forced to reply: "Duh. But half of Brighton is powerless, I was calling to see if you had power." She put me on hold, which I sat on until someone else came to the phone to answer my questions. No, they did not have power, but they had back up generators and they where open. So, off I went.

Now, as far as back up power goes they did in deed have power. The cooler where on, as where the registers. And 1 out of every 15 or so lights. For those of you who have never been in Meijer when it's not lit up it frikkin' spooky.

On my way home from the store I drove by my shop (15 mins before they opened) to see that both the Big boss, and the medium boss where there (But not Don). That in it's self was strange, but I took it in stride. When I got the work the first thing I noticed was that there was a new guy there, and no Mike...

Apparently, Mike got fired today, as well as two managers in one of the other stores. The funny part? Apparently in the middle of getting yelled at by the owner of the store Don managed to convince him that I needed a raise. So, I got a 50 cent raise today, of course until I see it on a check I won't hold my breath.
